sinnova 2019 - Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy
SINNOVA ‘s seventh edition took place on October 3-4, 2019 in Cagliari, Sardinia in Italy. With 15,000 visitors, 700 exhibiting companies, of which 200 were start-ups, and 110 foreign investors – SINNOVA remains the largest event in Sardinia dedicated to the regional innovation ecosystem.
The backdrop for this year’s edition was Sa Manifattura (former tobacco factory), a symbolic place for creativity and innovation in Cagliari, Sardinia.
Also this year, innovation had international importance at SINNOVA. For the third consecutive time, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE Agency) organized a program of one-to-one meetings with companies from Europe and beyond which expressed interest in investing in Sardinia or starting up commercial and technological relations with innovative companies and regional startups. The initiative was part of the Sud II Export Plan, a program in favor of companies in southern Italy, and was organized in collaboration with the Regional Department of Industry and Sardegna Ricerche. The international operators, selected by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE Agency) , come from France, Germany, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and India.
Two new features this year:
“Sinnova Collabora”
Changing is easier when done together, especially when it comes to innovation. This is why Sardegna Ricerche has been offering opportunities for collaboration between companies and research centers for years, promoting and financing the implementation of so-called “cluster projects”.
Clusters are collaborative projects managed by universities and other research institutions of the Island and are open to the participation of all local businesses. Their goal is to provide concrete opportunities for growth through the acquisition of cutting-edge skills and technologies, but also to stimulate innovation through cooperation and sharing.
“Sinnova for School”
A journey into the future was a tour in the schools of Sardinia, where girls and boys were able to discover the technologies that are changing our future, in a fun and authentic way.
Robotics, artificial intelligence, coding, data journalism, and cybersecurity are just some of the topics about which students discussed with professionals in the innovation sector, to then release their creativity during scientific workshops and spectacular science show.
Sinnova for School is organized by 10LAB, a center for the scientific dissemination of Sardegna Ricerche that every year welcomes and offers workshop and interactive activities to thousands of students from all over Sardinia.
